Thank you to everyone that participated in our 15th Annual Symposium!
More than 200 attended the 14th Annual symposium on Current Techniques in the Treatment of Cranial and Spinal Disorders on November 3, 2018. Symposium attendees heard from ten speakers and faculty discuss a wide variety of topics including surgical treatments for epilepsy, update on brain tumor markers and treatments, advances in degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis surgical treatments, and military applications to civilian trauma. The afternoon featured a pro-con argument on the use of medical marijuana.
The highlight of the day came from our keynote speaker and visiting professor, Saulius Ročka, MD, Ph.D. Dr. Ročka specializes in neuro-oncology, traumatic brain injury, neurovascular, and epilepsy surgery. Dr. Ročka received his medical degree from Vilnius University in Lithuania and currently the chairman of the neurosurgery center and associate professor of the Neurology and Neurosurgery Department. Dr. Ročka was part of a team of Lithuanian researchers who received the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) Paper of the Year award. The paper “Association of Severe TBI Patients’ Outcomes with Duration of Cerebrovascular Autoregulation Impairment Events,” is a paradigm shift in the clinical understanding of the functioning of an impaired human brain.
Thank you to our sponsors and exhibitors that made the event possible, with more than 32 exhibitors to visit throughout the day. The annual symposium is jointly provided by JPNI and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and facilitated by Boulder Neurosurgical & Spine Associates. The symposium offers a one-day extensive seminar that brings together a diverse panel of experts to disseminate advancements, scientific discoveries and innovative medical technologies to the medical community and into clinical practice.
