David Shafer, MD

Dr. Shafer received his medical degree with honors from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA, where he was the recipient of multiple academic awards. He then proceeded to train in neurosurgery at the University of Colorado in Denver, CO, where he completed his residency, including a year as chief resident. During his residency he gained competency in all areas of neurosurgery. These include surgery for spine (traditional and minimally invasive), trauma, tumors, vascular malformations, and functional disorders. He also recently went on a medical mission to Kurdistan, Iraq, where he treated patients in conjunction with the local neurosurgeons and presented at their international surgical symposium. Dr. Shafer’s clinical interests continue to include general neurosurgery as well as surgery for epilepsy and movement disorders.
