Expertise:
Boulder Neurosurgical Associates was founded by Jeffrey Thramann, MD. Dr. Thramann received his neurosurgical training at the distinguished Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI), an internationally recognized center for neurosurgery and neurology care. BNI provided Dr. Thramann with an exceptional learning environment, working with some of the world’s best neurosurgeons at a renowned research and training hospital. Dr. Alan Villavicencio has recently joined Boulder Neurosurgical Associates with expertise in the minimally invasive treatment of cranial and spinal disorders. Dr. Villavicencio is one of only a few surgeons in the country with training in both neurosurgical and orthopaedic spine surgery.

Together with Boulder Community Hospital (BCH), Boulder Neurosurgical Associates delivers BNI excellence to patients in Boulder.

"Boulder Community Hospital is committed to partnering with Boulder Neurosurgical Associates to bring state-of-the-art neurosurgical services to our community. We’ll accomplish that by combining the latest medical technology with the extensive expertise of the BNA team."
-David P. Gehant, President/CEO, Boulder Community Hospital

Technology:
With its commitment to neurosurgery, BCH equipped its neurosurgical operating suite with the finest tools, including Medtronic’s StealthStation‚ treatment guidance system. The StealthStation system revolutionizes neurosurgery by allowing surgeons to precisely locate lesions through the StealthStation’s visual navigation. This system helps reduce the risk to neurological structures and allows for less invasive procedures, producing better patient outcomes and faster recovery. The hospital is also committed to bringing in Colorado’s only CyberKnife — a revolutionary non-invasive radiosurgery system — as well as the region’s first intraoperative MRI.
